Our story

Independent Canadian restaurants are caught in a squeeze. The big delivery apps take up to 30% of every order they handle, turning a busy night of hard work into thin margins.

We started KanEats in Cornwall to do something about it. Walking into kitchen after kitchen, we kept seeing the same thing: on the busiest night of the week, the phone rings and nobody is free to answer it. Those callers do not leave a message. They call the next place.

So we built Foodie. It answers the restaurant's own phone, as that restaurant, takes the order and sends it to the kitchen. The restaurant pays one flat monthly fee. We take no commission, and the customer pays the restaurant directly, so the money stays in the kitchen that earned it and in the neighbourhood around it.

Every neighbourhood kitchen in Canada answered on its busiest night, without giving away a cut of its orders to do it.
